December 8: The next event will be held in 2006
The planning committee in November and agreed that a similar event would not be held in 2005, but would be considered for 2006. The technology will not have changed or progressed enough to warrant a similar event so soon.
The committee plans to reconvene and revisit the idea in September 2005. If you are interested in being included in this discussion, please contact Kathy Hackett.

October 8 : Pre-registration is closed
Pre-registration is closed as we prepare for the event. On-site registration will begin at 8am on Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Lunch will be provided for pre-registered attendees only.
October 5 : 530 Hopkins affiliates are registered
All registrants will receive their final schedule by e-mail on Friday October 8, 2004.

There will also be 2 Hopkins exhibitors: The Hopkins Antibiotic Guide was rated a "must-have" and "best overall program in terms of price (free!) and functionality" by Pharmacy Practice News (Aug 04) and the new Telehealth, group, part of Hopkins Telemedicine.

July 20: Certain sessions to be avialable via videoconference
Certain presentations will be made available via videoconferene. If your institution would like to receive this broadcast, you will need a videoconferencing system capable of H.320(ISDN) or H.323(IP) and you will need to call into a bridge to connect to the program. July 7: Nurse Practioner session added
Janet Selway, CRNP, a Nurse Practictioner and Graduate Instructor in the School of Nursing, has agreed to discuss how she uses her Pocket PC in her practice.
June 30: Homewood panel to discuss In-Class Voting System
A panel comprised of Harris Silverston, PhD (Chemistry), Rebecca Pearlman, PhD (Biology), Bruce Barnett, PhD (Physics) will discuss the In-Class Voting System and how to engage students in large and small classes. This session will be facilitated by Theron Feist of the Center for Educational Resources.
June 16: Mobile@Hopkins Announced
The Mobile@Hopkins Conference on mobile technology
has been announced and is being promoted to members of the Johns
Hopkins Institutions. “Save-the-date” announcements
are running on plasma screens across the medical campus. More
widely distributed and specific advertisements will be released
in upcoming weeks.
June 11: James Cimino Confirmed as Speaker
James J. Cimino, M.D., Professor of Biomedical
Informatics and Medicine at Columbia College of Physicians and
Surgeons will present at Mobile@Hopkins. Dr. Cimino has vast experience
in clinical information systems and has played a role in several
well known medical information initiatives partnering with such
institutions as the National Library. Dr. Cimino teaches and performs
research, while lecturing extensively and sitting on the editorial
boards of a number of journals.
June 8: Andreas Andreou, PhD Confirmed as a
Presenter
Dr Andreou received his Ph.D. in electrical
engineering and computer science from Johns Hopkins in 1986, and
is currently Professor of electrical and computer engineering
in the Whiting School of Engineering. His research interests include
integrated circuits, sensory information processing and neural
computation. He will discuss his use of Tablet PCs in the classroom.
June 7: Eric Vogel to Speak at Hopkins
Eric Vogel, MD, will be lecturing at this
fall’s Mobile@Hopkins Conference. Dr. Vogel is well known
for his commitment to innovation in medical education. At Drexel,
where he serves as Residency Program Director, Dr. Vogel works
to innovate the medical curriculum in association with new technology
and access to information. Dr. Vogel’s research focuses
on evidence-based medicine and informatics.
June 3: Mark Bittle Confirmed as Speaker
Mark Bittle, MBA, CHE, will be speaking at
the Mobile@Hopkins Conference. As Administrator for Ambulatory
Operations at Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, Mr. Bittle is very
familiar with the challenges of improving efficiency in the clinical
setting. For this event, Mr. Bittle will present “Enhancing
Physician Practice Efficiency: Putting Mobile Computing Technology
into the hands of the Faculty.” The presentation will review
the PatientKeeper application as well as other present and future
tools for clinicians.
May 5: National Library of Medicine awards
$4995 grant
A $4,995 grant was awarded by NLM (the National
Library of Medicine) as part of its outreach program to promote
the use of information technology to improve access to health
information, introduce new technology, or introduce new uses of
old technology for health professionals or health consumers.
April 25: Vendors invited to participate
Over 35 selected vendors have been sent an
invitation to particpate, exhibit their products and discuss their
services. Sponsoship opportunities include providing give-aways,
morning or afternoon refreshments, lunch, etc.
